OUR STORY
Born from the special bond between brother and sister, Alexander and Jessie Pappas, Northern Spiritlines Ink & Thread Company™ LLC celebrates Alaska's enduring artistic spirit. Alexander and Jessie are Alaskan Non-Native artists whose work is inspired by the landscapes, wildlife, and folklore of the place they call home. Each design begins as an original carving by co-founder Alexander Pappas — hand-carved into wood and metal — reflecting his passion for nature and storytelling.
Born in 1977 in the Pacific Northwest and raised in Alaska, Alexander's creative roots run deep. His lifelong love of design and craftsmanship led him to apprentice under a renowned Alaskan master carver from Southeast Alaska. Alexander brings his own creative expression to wood and metal, sharing his imagination with gratitude and deep respect for the teacher who has shaped him. Each original carving is carefully translated into digital artwork, preserving the detail and character of the piece. This allows the designs to be thoughtfully applied across a curated range of products — from home décor and kitchenware to travel accessories, souvenirs, and gifts.
This blend of handcraft and contemporary design ensures that every Northern Spiritlines creation reflects family, artistry, and a love of Alaska. Our designs are original works by non-Native artists and are not Native American–made products, nor are they affiliated with or endorsed by any Tribe.
